Dan:

In this particular case, the pulse generator from Speedometer Services in Wisconsin (or somewhere back there) works for BOTH the AutoMeter #4490 Ultra-Lite 5" In Dash Elec Speedometer 200 MPH Electric Programmable Speedometer, AND the Dakota Digital Electronic Cruise Control CRS-3000-2 Cruise Control.

The cruise control works with a pulse range of 1,200 to 40,000 pulses per mile, and the Autometer works with pulse generators. Period. You calibrate the Autometer instrument by finding an exact 2 mile relatively straight piece of road, and then driving that stretch of road as smoothly as possible, hitting the "start" at the beginning, and then hitting the "stop" at the end of the 2 mile distance. With the ZF pulse generator, it will generate approximately 25,600 pulses per mile.

And with the Autometer speedo it's got a "speed signal output" terminal which is designed to pass the pulse signal thru the speedo, and to a cruise control, or other appliance that can use this data.

So, yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, based on what I have been told.

Now as for the check... Yes. Send a blank, signed (with your real name) check, preferably on an account that has lotsa money, to me. And sometime within the next 3 or 4 years I'll send you a badly printed large format plot.... which may, or may not, have any relationship to your car's wiring.....

Failing that, I've attached the JPG file for the L version, post VIN #5028 series schematic, which is the one that I'm using. What you will need to do is to copy this JPG file to a thumb drive, or a flash drive, and take it to the nearest Staples copy center. They can plot any size, in black and white, up to 36" by 48", for a very reasonable amount. If you want it laminated, that's going to take them a few days, since most of their retail stores don't have the big 36" wide laminators. They have the 24" wide laminators, but the 36" sizes need to be sent to one of their "hub" centers, where for the price of $2 bucks per square foot, they'll laminate it for you.

The attached file is a zip file which consists of the JPG file names: "Schematic Post 5028.jpg" This is a 2 meg sized file, which hopefully will get to you, as an attachment. If you have problems, let me know and I'll send it to you a different way (which will be stripped to the forum, but if anyone else wants it, let me know).

Also, if you don't have a thumb drive, or a flash drive, you can always burn it to a CD.
