The media regurgitates what the PR person tells them.  If the owner (movie producer) tells his PR person to refer to it as a total loss, then that's what gets picked up by the media outlets.  It sells better.  For a :10 second reader on the nightly news, it's probably not worth the trouble of contacting a dealer or expert.

someone please explain to me why the media keeps saying the car was a total loss, destroyed, etc?  i'd wager the tab to fix it will be 2%-4% of its value.
