Add zerks and grease them correctly. Trying to add grease from the stud side
only makes a mess and little if any fresh grease ever works its way into the
load area- some 1" further inside. The Feb POCA News has a much updated article
on doing this simple little mod, which I first described in 1993 for P.I
magazine using Judys Pantera (as usual) as a test-mule. Nothing's changed since
then except the replacement cost of all ball joints & tie-rod ends has actually
come down from $1400 to about $700, thanks to the vendors finding far-east
sources. FWIW, the original idea was inspired by the fact that Ford seems to have
a habit of cheapening their cars this way; Pintos didn't come with grease
fittings either, and a whole short-lived aftermarket industry sprang up around
adding them. FWIW- J DeRyke
