<< I dug out my factory parts book, which lists paint codes for the factory

paints for '71 through '74 Panteras. But it specifically says that for the

codes for cars with a VIN of 9000+ should contact the factory for the paint

codes.

>>>And that advice still holds true today. They will have the paint code.

It's a kind of special white - with hints of pink and purple - it is far

from a refrigerator white.

>>>It's not just 'special'. It's pearl white, with pink and purple mica.

When someone drilled a hole in my door a few

years ago the shop was unable to find an exact match.

>>>The shop sucks. Having said that, pearl paints are almost impossible to
match perfectly, but they should have been able to get it close. When the time
comes, you are going to have to find a GOOD hot-rod-style painter and expect
to pay considerably more than you would if you were just shooting an ordinary
color.

It would be child's play to find such a person in the USA, but where you are?
That's a challenge. I suggest chasing down the next Honda you see that is
sporting 12 different aerodynamic devices and a muffler the size of a water
heater, and asking the 17-year-old driver where his buddies get their flash paint
work done.

>Anyone have any data? >>

>>>Santiago might be able to point you in the right direction. But chances
are, the data he will be able to provide will be useless; it will probably say
"Pearl White" but it was up to the body shop on that day in 1985, to actually
come up with the recipe for the paint. If it got banged up two weeks later
they might have had to reshoot the whole thing. Maybe not though? Maybe I'm
being too pessimistic?

As your car was painted at Campagna, where Claudia Lodi now works, I'd give
her a call and ask her advice....

Also, you might want to ping Roger Coates in the UK. He painted his GT5-S
himself with flip-flop paint--the type that is one color when you view it in
one direction, and completely changes color when the light hits it from a
different angle (his was blue, and green). He runs a standard auto repair shop
which has a body shop attached, and he has painted several high-end Panteras,
including the one belonging to Johnny Woods. So he's a good guy to talk to about
paint issues.

CoatesR8 at aol.com is his e-mail; (+44) 1-509-842-747 is his work phone.

Good luck!
