What was the sound like?

Loose spark plugs and leaking headers both make a ticking sound.

With your lash all about the same, it is unlikely that you have problems
with your lifters, pushrods, or rockers.

I wonder about the rockers that were reversed.  I've seen people use 1.5
rockers because 1.6 would cause valve to piston interference.  If it made a
difference, I would expect the #1 exhaust pushrod to be bent, plus I'd
expect it to make the noise as soon as it was started for the first time.
