[DeTomaso] Volvo 240 Caliper/Brembo bolt-on upgrade

Tomas,

Your absolutely right, the R caliper is not a radial mount...I was skimming through the pictures and did not pay attention that the caliper mounts were different on the R caliper vs. the Porsche caliper. Thanks for clarifying.

Best regards,

I'm confused by your post Tomas...you mention that the adapter moves the caliper into the right area to fit the rotor correctly. Then you say "To fit this setup to a Pantera spindle requires rotors with much shallower hat sections"...I assume that you are saying either one or the other?

  >No. Quoting myself: "Note that the adapters will move the R calipers into the area where the stock Pantera rotor resides." By that I mean that if you install that kit with a Pantera rotor you will have to remove the braking area from the rotor. The adapter clearly moves the R caliper outward about the thickness of the mounting ear x2 as you can see from the pics of the adapter. The stock caliper mounts inboard of the mounting ear. The R rotor mounts outboard of the adapter mounting ear. The stock Volvo rotor almost kisses the spindle mounting ear. This works on the Volvo 240 as at the same time you use the shallower (than the 240 that is) R rotor off a completely different car model. The Pantera uses a shallower rotor than the 240.

Since the 240 caliper was a direct bolt on and someone came up with the adapter for the Brembo's that they did the adapter because it is a "radial bolt on" caliper with the bolt going through the caliper vertically, not the direct bolt on that has the bolt going through the caliper horizontally like the stock Volvo 240 caliper/Pantera Girling caliper?

  >The R caliper is not a radial mount, you can see this in the web site pics. The adapter has two sets of holes drilled in the same direction.

Does any one know the bolt pattern for a Pantera wheel? I have been looking at rotors and have never figured out which hat/rotor would fit the bolt pattern of a Pantera.

  >4,5" bolt circle, 82 mm center hole.

Note that the adapters will move the R calipers into the area where the stock Pantera rotor resides. To fit this setup to a Pantera spindle requires rotors with much shallower hat sections. And 17" wheels of course.
