I'm curious- why would you wish to replace a part that failed due to its
materials being age-sensitive, with an identical part possibly as old as the one
you now have? The nylon shrinks with age but the shrinkage is resisted by the
steel center. Forces build up and eventually cracks form in a tooth root that
ultimately causes a chunk to fall out and bind up the mechanism. Decades ago,
Hall Pantera tooled up to replace the crack-prone stock plastic gear with a
cast-bronze one that certainly will last forever. All the U.S vendors now sell
such bronze gears quite reasonably; I've seen them on sale for as little as $35
each. FWIW, you'll ultimately need three gears- both doors and the headlight
lift mechanism all use the same motor & gearbox- with a plastic gear. Good
luck- J DeRyke************************************** AOL now offers free email to
