[DeTomaso] DeTomaso Digest, Vol 35, Issue 20 More Calif Smog Checks

Back in the late 80's my 69 Firebird had to go thru
the semi annual  Calif smog checks... This was a 12 1/2 to 1
468 ci motor, ported, hi lift cam etc... I would pull the 
Air cleaner off the van, change the manifold and carb
and off the the gas station...The thing would barely idle
below 1100 rpm and was commented on several times.
I also burned out the race gas as best as possible prior
to the trip... This thing would be so far below the requirements
for that year that passing was easy if the visual was done.
Now my 6 cylinder 1985 Ford pickup had problems every
time as the controls were more restrictive.
