[DeTomaso] Speedo Noise

The noise could be coming from the speedo, but I'll bet that the cable
strands are starting to fray and catch on the inner jacket causing the noise
and the needle jump. It is most likely where the cable takes a sharp bend
leading up to the back of the speedo.

You can test my guess by detaching both ends of the cable then having
someone spin the cable with a variable speed drill in the engine bay while
you listen to the cable in the cabin.

I have been told that you can run a new cable into the jacket, but I have
not tried that.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Speedo Noise

My speedo needle is bouncing slightly and making a noise that matches the
bounce. Not too loud, but loud enough to be annoying. I put a new cable in
about 2 years ago with no problems afterwards until now.
Suggestions?
