[DeTomaso] Camber Bar / Dip Stick Questions

Both of my cars (82 and 90 models) had a single 13qt tank. I also seem
to remember the later car having a different dipstick arrangement making
it less likely to end up in the tank, but I can't remember what was
different about it.

You're memory is correct sir! And as I recall the tank holds about 13
quarts.

>>>Actually, there are TWO tanks, and more importantly, two drain plugs!

I found this out when I offered up my garage to a friend who has an
immaculate Porsche 911T, but who has never actually worked on it
himself. He wanted to change his oil. We put it on the lift, he found
*a* drain plug and removed it, then he started to fill it with 13
quarts. Meanwhile, I was elsewhere, working on the Pantera.

When the oil started pouring out of the air filter housing, he concluded
that perhaps something was amiss...:>) After a draining of a suitable
amount of (new) oil, he announced that the oil change operation was
complete. With the oil gauge on the dash showing just less than full,
he drove off with huge clouds of oil smoke coming out the exhaust. :>)
