If your relay is a SPST then you want 12v power from the battery 
to 30, 86 to switched ignition, 87 to fan 85 to thermostat. When the 
thermostat opens up it grounds the relay then the relay powers the fans, 
wzzzzz. Well, at least that is how I have mine wired. I also have one of the 
console double through switches in series so I can ground the relay and have 
the fans power up any time I want, wzzzzz.
