[DeTomaso] FORD GT Numbers

Hey Chuck,

I drove my Pantera on vacation to the Vegas in April/May for 7700
miles. I have driven it almost every day since. Does that qualify as alive?

It will be autocrossing this weekend.

Dave

Dear Oracle,

How many Panteras are still pseudo-functional/drivable?
OK, I'll take the bait........

                 Wild ass numbers and guess:

Figure 6000 Panteras manufactured (obviously inaccurate
despite Ford accountants and Italian obsession with accuracy, but a
reasonable number)

Guess 3000 Panteras are dead and gone due to wrecks and
rust over 33-36 years......

Guess 1000-1500 Panteras are slowly rusting away in
storage, in unfinished restoration projects, forgotten in garages and
storage, or can't actually start or run, etc. etc.

Guess that 1500 Panteras actually might start, run and
drive on any given day.

Guess that 750-1000 Panteras are regularly driven a few
times a year.

Bottom line: out of roughly 6000 Panteras about 3000
actually exist and only about 1000 or so are "alive".

That's my story and I'm stickin' to
it, Chuck The Prophet Engles
