[DeTomaso] AAAAAAARGH!!!!!

It could be the washer.

I don't know that you can jack up the front enough not to have anything
come out. I would simply prepare for a small mess. you can clean it up
easy enough with a spray hose. That is, if you are daring enough to get
water near your Pantera. :)

I would also closely inspect the area around the bleed screw for any
small cracks. I once got a brand new radiator for my Pantera, and found
one of the fittings was cracked. This caused a leak when the car was
warm, but not so much so when first starting up. The vendor made good
on it and I now have a Fluidyne aluminum radiator in my Pantera. It
works for now, till I decide on what to do in the future.

. . . and by the way, you might be interested to know, we have a member
on this forum who is. . . well, a real honest to goodness brain
surgeon. He was, similar to you, terrified of doing heavy mechanical
work on his Pantera. That gentleman has since rebuilt more than one
engine for his Pantera, and done a sundry of other items. The more you
learn, the bolder you get. :)
