[DeTomaso] Clear Coating Aluminum?

Anodizing is a form of oxidation coating I believe. It forms a protective coating that will not oxidize unless breached. There is clear anodizing, red blue you name it.
I have used a product called Glisten PC made by POR 15.
It works great on all aluminum surfaces and hardens to a shore hardness of about 57. I have used it for polished Al, blasted Al, Al Heads, Engine mounts, Steel etc. My car has about 10 lb. of the stuff on it. some of the components have been coated for three years and no crazing or pealing. The trick with this stuff is to follow the instructions. You need a clean surface, Wash with the etching compound, wash with water, dry thoroughly, and coat with 2 to 3 wet coats. Final hardness is reached in four days depending on humidity. This stuff hardens with increased humidity, thus the dry thoroughly comment. It will withstand temperatures of 350 to 400 F. They also make Translucent coatings that can be sandwiched in between the clear to give a color. I have had great results with this product.
If you spray the clear, the best way to get the shine, CLEAN THE GUN IMMEDIATELY!!! I have trashed a couple of guns so far. If you want pic's I will send off line. Sorry to sound like an add but I found this product to be one of the best if applied properly.

Is anodizing clear? What are wheels coated with if anything? I would assume
that different grades of aluminum will corrode at different rates, such as
wheels, their alloy content makes them more resistant to corrosion and
discoloration. I have to assume that aluminum heads are the same way.

What if I just glass bead blast the ZF case and bellhousing and don't clear
coat it with anything? How long before it turns color again?
