[DeTomaso] dust cover question

OK, so my '72 is almost ready for the road, but here's a question for all of 
you:  When I got the front rotors and dust covers from SSBC ('66 Mustang 
rotors, I believe), the rotors went on fine, but the "dust shields" as SSBC 
called them, didn't fit at all and so I'm going to return them.

What terrible things will happen to me if I run the car without dust shields 
on the front hubs?
