Thanks Jack, but we can't find it even with the gate plate completely
removed. First and second are fine, but as soon as you try to go up to the
left, it's like there's a rubber block there that just won't allow it to
proceed.

FWIW, if you've messed around with the shift gate, that couid cause the
problem. A new Hall finger-less gate I installed on a car that shifted fine,
caused
it to not go into reverse. The shifter shaft must lay over to the left in
order to select reverse and some gate-surrounds, on some cars, block that
action.
5 minutes of file beveling of the inside edge of the gate allowed easy
reverse shifts again. Unusual, but it happened- J DeRyke
