// For the cost of a new cap, I'd just replace it.

I did.

//Test the temp with a digital gun at the swirlt tank, not the motor.

You mean point to the tank or into the tank w/ the cap off ??

//Have you bled the air out of the rad? There should be a bleed screw at
the
top pass side.

Yes. Water was coming out when I did that, no more air bubbles.

// Do you hear any noises coming from the cooling system under
pressure?

Yes. It whistles loudly behind the passenger seat. I am going to take
the covers off and check for cracked hoses, although I believe the
whistling is the exhaust hose from the 2nd tank.

//Is the swirl tank full after it's cooled down?

I did not check that yet.

I am going to get an infrared thermometer and start taking readings of
the engine outside temp and the radiator.

What PSI should the fill tank cap be ?

Your rad is not cooling the fluid enough. I think it's running too hot
at
230f with a 160 stat. The rad should be extremely hot to the touch. At
least
230 degrees if your gauge is reading 230.
I would also check that swirl tank cap again. The pressure is is
exceeding
the cap rating and allowing steam? out. There shouldn't be air or steam
in
the system.
