About 15 years ago when I was living in Austin, I was able to wander onto
the set of "A Perfect World". I did not see Clint Eastwood or Kevin
Costner, but I did run into the guy that was responsible for managing the
period cars. He told me about all the things they do to get it right such
as lining up the lug nuts on parked cars each morning as they were the day
before. He said that the reason they go to such lengths is that there are
people out there with nothing better to do than find an publish the
mistakes.

Hi Ken,

That is normal for most movies that have anything to do with cars. They are
full of mistakes. I like when you get the shot of them driving along and the
shifter is in park, or when the steering wheel is 25% turned in one
direction or when the car is an automatic and you hear it shifting gears on
and on and on.

It drives (no pun) me nuts to know they spend millions on a movie and will
not even hire one of us as a consultant for 500K.

We took my wife's grand daughter to see Transformers last night. Early in
the movie they open the hood on the rusty old Camaro rat rod the kid star is
driving, and there is the really beautiful motor, and a quick glimpse of
what I think were 4 Webers on a cross ram manifold, very nice. The girl
he's after starts describing the engine as having a double pumper etc. and
she explains the her dad was a mechanic and she knows all about engines.

Did anyone spot the cross-ram or am I just hallucinating? If I saw it
correctly, I wonder what moron wrote the script? It appeared that someone
went to a lot of trouble to build that beautiful engine, and they couldn't
even describe it right.

  Ken
