I remember when CA mandated PCV valves be updated to older  cars.
 
I took my car to a shop. They drilled a hole thru the cast iron  intake 
manifold while it was on the car and banged in a press fit tube to hook  up the PCV 
valve.
 
I guess the cast iron chips were small enough that the engine could  digest 
them  .... never had a problem.
