Drive it and fly home for $69. A fraction of the cost/time.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Truck and trailer options

I need to move the red Pantera from my dad's place in Cincinnati, Ohio
to my place in St. Louis (around 380 miles). I had a diesel F-250 and
an enclosed trailer lined up but it looks like that won't be available
any time in the forseeable future so I'm considering other options.
I called U-Haul to check on renting a truck and trailer. The guy
asked if I was renting for a local run or one-way. I stated it was
round trip. He said "We don't do that. You have to drop it off
at a different U-Haul facility." After a short discussion on why
that makes no sense whatsoever, he said it could be dropped off
across town. So I ask for a quote. The truck is 99 cents per mile
and the trailer is 40 cents per mile. Plus there is a base cost of
$129 and $69 for truck and trailer so, for the round trip, I'm looking
at $1300 plus fuel costs. I can have the car delivered for less.
The other option is getting my brother to come out for a visit then
ride back with him and rent the truck and trailer in Cincy for a
one way. Cost for that is around $450 plus the fuel cost is cut in
half. Any other truck and trailer options I should consider?

Thanks,
Dan Jones
