Good idea, John.

Here ya go. $600 with ramps. You can keep it or put it back on Craigslist
for what you paid for it.

Dan,

perhaps you can find something for rent on Craigslist or even post a
wanted add there for your needs. Someone who is wanting to sell theirs,
might rent it to you???

  Good Luck,

  John

A while back, I tried U-Haul and other outfits. Besides that silly
restriction on round-trips, there were other restrictions that made it a all
but impossible to do such as the requirement to tow with the engine towards
the front.

There are private outfits in my area that rent trailers to racers that are
much friendlier to us and our needs. You may have some in the St Louis
area.

I need to move the red Pantera from my dad's place in Cincinnati, Ohio
to my place in St. Louis (around 380 miles). I had a diesel F-250 and
an enclosed trailer lined up but it looks like that won't be available
any time in the forseeable future so I'm considering other options.
I called U-Haul to check on renting a truck and trailer. The guy
asked if I was renting for a local run or one-way. I stated it was
round trip. He said "We don't do that. You have to drop it off
at a different U-Haul facility." After a short discussion on why
that makes no sense whatsoever, he said it could be dropped off
across town. So I ask for a quote. The truck is 99 cents per mile
and the trailer is 40 cents per mile. Plus there is a base cost of
$129 and $69 for truck and trailer so, for the round trip, I'm looking
at $1300 plus fuel costs. I can have the car delivered for less.
The other option is getting my brother to come out for a visit then
ride back with him and rent the truck and trailer in Cincy for a
one way. Cost for that is around $450 plus the fuel cost is cut in
half. Any other truck and trailer options I should consider?

Thanks,
Dan Jones
