Well, the most obvious 'tell' would be the VIN; if the car was built before
1980 it can't be a genuine GT5. Any Pantera built after 1980 *could* have been
built as a GT5, or it could have been converted afterwards (PI Motorsports
has (or had) a black 1980s Pantera that was built as a narrow-body car and later
converted to GT5-S specifications, although not using factory parts to do
it).
Secondly, the factory GT5s used fiberglass flares etc. that were held to the
body with rivets, and bonded with a seam of some sort of goo. Many/most GT5
conversions use steel flares, so that's another obvious 'tell'.
