Thanks John, I have a diagram in my service bulletins that should tell me
which (left or right) those should be.

I would suggest that the water exiting the block (pressure side) head toward
the flow control unit and the line exiting the heater core connect  with the
water pump (suction side) . Thus theoretically, the hotter coolant exiting
the block is stopped prior to entering the heater core and compromising the
AC when you need it.
