The Pantera OEM tach will run off the coil minus (-) terminal with a
Duraspark ll. No tach adapter is required.

The main Duraspark ignition module can be thought of as a set of electronic
breaker points.

With a Duraspark box, you need a ballast resistor. On early Panteras, a
ballast resistor which looks like a block of ceramic was used. On late Panteras
a resistance wire was used between the ignition switch and the coil.

The Duraspark wiring diagram is attached.

The White wire to the Duraspark from the starter switch retards the spark
timing when you are starting the engine. The White wire should be connected to
the left small terminal of the starter solenoid .... the terminal with the
Red wire from the Start position of the Ignition Switch.

The Red wire to the Duraspark should be connected to the end of the ballast
resistor which is not connected to the ignition coil on early cars or to Fuse
#12 on later cars. Fuse #12 can be accessed via the passenger side rocker
panel with the seatbelt anchor removed. This point is the 12V from the ignition
switch in the Run and Start positions. Be sure that this wire has full
battery voltage when the ignition switch is in the run position.

The Orange wire on the right small terminal of the starter solenoid is
connected to the positive terminal of the ignition coil. This wire bypasses the
ballast resistor and thus provides full battery voltage to the coil when you
are staring the engine.

The Tach connection on the diagram is where you should connect the
Blue/Black input wire for the Pantera tach. This is the Minus (-) terminal of the
ignition coil and is the point which gets switched by the Duraspark ll main
module.

Be sure the main Duraspark module is bolted to a metal surface. The surface
provides a ground for the switching circuits and acts a heat sink to keep the
module cool.

Let me know if you have any questions or problems with this installation.

Have fun,
