Hi guys,

I just got a phone call from Bill Faull, sales manager at Mustangs Plus.
They are one of the nations best-known Mustang parts dealers (they invented the
term 'restomod' by the way) and are somewhat local to me; we've been friends
for years through our affiliation with the Nor-Cal Shelby Club.

Anyway, they have a customer in Germany who vintage-races a '65 Mustang
coupe. He phoned them to tell them that one of his buddies just bought #2873,
which is among the more famous Gr4 Panteras built. It was originally a factory
team car driven by Mike Parkes and Clay Regazzoni, and later became a
semi-works car campaigned under the Team Jolly Club banner; its most notable
performance being the outright win of the Giro D'Italia, which took the place of the
Mille Miglia as the most prestigious multi-day open road race/rally in Italy
(basically, Italy's answer to the Tour de France).

The car then bounced around for awhile, including some time spent with George
Stauffer in Wisconsin, before being sold to Marcel Schaub in Switzerland, and
later to an unknown German owner.

I haven't been able to speak to the new owner yet (I don't even know if he
speaks English) but I've heard from the guy who heard from the guy who heard
from the new owner that the car is pretty scruffy and needs some (many?) parts.
They were about to fly to the USA next month on a parts-scrounging mission,
and I relayed the message back that they should be starting their parts hunt
with Roland in Hamburg, so we'll see how that goes.

Hopefully they will fettle the car in short order and we'll see it running at
events like the Le Mans Classic before too long!

Mike
