thanks mike - that was my first direction - trying to unscrew the old push rod - because it didn't have a place to wrench it...i tried pliers - when that didn't seem to work, i figured it didn't come out - but now i now better thanks to you - so i will go back at it with the pliers and make it unsrew (could it be threaded backwards? - i'll try both directions) - thanks again - stephen

Stephen,

Sorry you can't reuse your old pushrod, but you're still trying to do things the hard way!

Simply unthread the old pushrod from the old clevis, and thread the new pushrod in, in its place. Then install the master cylinder. You will have to adjust the pushrod length, but if you mark the old one before you remove it, then mark the new one, you can get it very close.

You would think that with all your pins frozen, that they wouldn't need C-clips. You'd be wrong. If you don't replace the C-clips, the pins could easily fall out while you're driving, and that's bad.

Removing the the clutch pedal and pedal shaft, which itself requires removing the whole pedal assembly, is not the solution. To do that you would have to fully dismantle your brake system as well, which is just an awful lot of work, for nothing.

Mike
