I don't think you want to go over 0.030.  You could sonic check it and base
your decision on the cylinder wall thickness, but it is unlikely.  Of
course, it also depends on your intended use, but if it were me, I'd look
for another block.

I don't know the piston to cylinder wall thickness.  I know there's a
different number for forged vs. cast vs. hypereutectic.

One other thing, you want to make sure the shop knows how to bore/hone Ford
blocks.  I had a discussion with Mark McKeown about boring.  He had much to
say about honing.  He said that most shops use a stone that is too hard for
Ford blocks.  The point being that if you treat the block like any other
Chevy block, they may screw up the hone and turn your block into an oil
burner.

I have two questions for you guys.

Maximum bore for Cleveland block that is already bored to 0.030 over.
I know I've heard that max recommended bore for a Cleveland is 4,030"
Would that make it totally insane to bring a block to 4.040/.045?
This block is a starting point for a 383ci 400hp stroker.


Second question: What is the easiest way to id pistons and the bore they
where made for? With other words what is the normally recommended piston to
cylinder wall clearance. (forged pistons, and Cleveland block)
The pistons has no markings, or brand names on them.
