[DeTomaso] New leather seat covers

Dear JSK and Mike,

Years ago when the Pantera had low miles and I was concerned with originality and stock appearance, I had a stock seat reupholstered and recontoured.

I bought a clapped out seat from Dennis Quella for $25 and took it to a local ace airplane custom upholsterer. The plan was to start with the bare frame, use modern high-density thin foam padding and recontour the seat for better ergonomic fit, then recover it in a rare genetically cloned naugahyde vinyl skin to appear stock....... It worked. It is much more comfortable than the original seat. It looks very, very stock to a casual glance. It is thinner and provides more headroom. The bad news: in 1990 the total cost was $400. If a Pantera owner is of normal height and stature then other options such as Corvette seats or Recaros are probably better in terms of function and overall cost and value.
