I'd find the ground wire going to each bulb and tap into that and go to the
frame rather than the headlight casing--it is hinged and therefore may not
be a solid ground. The more ground wires you intercept and run to the
frame, the better the overall ground will be. I have no idea why the
original car had almost everything going to one puny wire on one spot on the
car--oh yeah, "it's Italian!"
