Are you sure you're not confusing this with a radar detector?

Those are illegal in many countries, even in Sweden, and they also 
appear to be illegal in Germany. I have not found anything that says 
that a GPS that warns about speed cams solely with the aid of camera 
coordinates is illegal, although it appears they are illegal in Switzerland.

The above link says they have removed the data for Switzerland to comply 
with Swiss law. Given that they have German data I assume they have 
determined that it is legal in Germany.
