[DeTomaso] Oscillating vibration

Mike,

There's an alignment arrow stamped on each half. They are light stampings on
mine and are hard too see. When those arrows are aligned they are in phase
and aligned for the factory balance.

The next question I would have then is how large are the splines on a Spicer
HD half shaft. On visual inspection, my U joint ends on the axles appear to
be "in phase", but if the splines are small enough that a visual check may
not be adequate, I'll pull them and take a closer look.
Thanks
Mike

The picture in the link should do the job.

In words, the pivoting axis of inner most joints must be in line with each
other and then the pivot axis of the outermost joints will also be inline
with each other and at 90 degrees to the inner most joint axis.

Even a one slip joint spline alignment error between the inner most joints
can cause a vibration problem.
