Pat Mical designed and cast magnesium uprights for his 90Si 
conversion, with a dramatic reduction in unsprung weight that will 
not be achievable with aluminum. They have been on his 1000 hp car 
long enough to indicate sufficient durability. To be truthful, I 
don't know much about this stuff, but I'm thinking that perhaps the 
option of starting from scratch, working with aluminum, and relying 
on unproven engineering should be compared to the option of getting a 
bunch of interested guys together and seeing if Pat can be talked 
into casting a batch of his uprights.

Personally, I'd be interested in the magnesium option if Pat's 
uprights live up to their billing, and if they can be obtained at a 
reasonable cost.
