[DeTomaso] which gear to park in?

When I am parked and the key out, my back up lights come on if I am in
reverse.  I am guessing that it is not the stock set up?

I use second because that's what I was taught and it became habit. My
e-brake needs some adjustment - it doesn't work very well.
 
I think I'll start using reverse.......

I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed before.......

I have been parking my manual shift cars in 2nd gear since I was 16. I
have been doing the same with the Pantera. However I'm wondering if that
might be hurting the ZF in any way.

Is there a preferred gear to park in? What gear do you park your Pantera
in?
