I'll second that Dave.....thank you Laurie and all who wrote!

I want to congratulate Durango Dave again for his outstanding effort nailing his goal average speed....He had no navigator, and he ran the toughest ORR course in the country or Mexico driving his Pantera out and back from Durango, finishing the ORR and receiving both an Iron Man Award and a 3rd Place SORC trophy for his class. He is a WINNER in our book.

Tommy said it best when he said, "the best part of the week was being 'forced' <grin> to co-habitat together in Arnold Nebraska".

We had more fun together then we probably deserved to have. I think we appreciated it all that much more hanging together all week instead of heading off to a seperate hotel or motel rooms like we usually do at the other ORR's. Too much love!!!

We had a way cool 4-bedroom hunting lodge all to ourselves in Arnold that was stocked with everything we needed for the week. Food, drinks, Sat TV, everything including AC!!! The hunting guide who donated his hunting lodge also picked up the entire tab for everything while we were there.

Like I mentioned before it was hot (103F) and humid (90%+) on race day but I can't remember having so much fun in a week. The drive back to Kalifornia was perfect once we got going in the right direction! I also want to thank Tommy-Gun Di Iulio and my best bud (Larry-the-Falcon Kelsey) for putting up with the accordian and hula-hoop entertainment!

118 ORR participants at the SORC this year and the fastest Unlimited Division driver was Ron Adee in a 1,100 HP race-prepared Viper who set a new course average of 149.277 MPH on the 1st leg and 140.878 MPH on the return leg.

Here's our non-record breaking but always looking way cool speeds on course

WINNER Durango Dave Adin- **Averaged 79.953 MPH on 1st leg and 80.132 MPH on 2nd or return leg to Arnold Dave was just 1.222 seconds off a 1st place with no navigator on rookie run.

Loser Tommy-Gun Di Iulio - **Averaged 102.774 MPH on 1st leg and 102.317 MPH on return to Arnold. Tommy had the 11th WORST goal speed on course or to put a positive spin on his results he had the 4th FASTEST time in his class but said something about having to retrieve an Iron Butterfly CD that fell on the floor during his run!! ;-]>

Loser Mad Dawg - **Averaged 105.527 MPH on the 1st leg and 104.105 MPH on the return leg in his rookie run at the SORC with no navigator and had the 13th WORST goal speed on course but had the 2nd FASTEST time in his class and cried about a Viper with car numbers # 666 that would not get out of his way on course. ;-]

Larry "the Falcon" Kelsey, Our Team Manager, spiritual leader and life coach cooked chili, kept an eye on the Brazilian Girls and us and apologised to neighbors and local police for noise from our team headquarters.

Not bad for a bunch of old guys in old cars.

I miss the heat and humidity already! ;-]>

  Silver State in 30 days!!!

  Good Times
