Yeah, the other thing you can do is alter the way you apply the rules and conduct tech inspections. Then there's the whole restrictor plate thing...

  I had an opportunity to listen to Jack Roush talk about NASCAR being 
controlled and scripted "just like wrestling".  I wasn't sure how you could 
do something like that.  He mentioned that when the cars get too spread out 
and things are going too smoothly, you can count on a yellow flag being 
thrown for debris on the track to get them bunched up again.  I don't know 
how deep it goes and he shut up after that, though you could tell there was 
a lot more to the story.  I really liked NASCAR in the 60's and 70's when 
they used "real" cars.  I can't get interested anymore.
