My good laugh was a couple of years ago when I needed some long lug nuts for
the deep recesses in the Gotti/Etoile wheels. I walked into Advance Auto
Parts and asked for some 12mm X 1.5 pitch lug nuts at least 2" long. The
girl behind the counter says, "We don't list them that way. What kind of car
are they for?" I replied, "1972 deTomaso Pantera." Next words out of her
mouth were, "What size did you say you needed?"

That's charming and I find the fellows know nothing  either.  Going for 
Dexron other day @ Kragen, guy says we're totally  out,  then I peek in back
of 
shelf and see cases upon cases of the  stuff.  They just have a new name for
it,  
Dex/Merc   (and, no, not for the P). But worse yet is Fry's Electronics (my 
other  home).  Every time I'm there I listen to salesmen tell customers
we're 
out of things that are always in their big colorful ads, while I've seen  
stacks of whatever it is lined up on display in remote parts of store.  I
wait 
'til salesman leaves and cust. is searching for an alternative item,  and
say, 
"Excuse me but please come with me."  Happy cust. every  time.
Laurie (when I retire from teaching I can always work for Fry's  with much 
experience.)

 I went to Autozone and got 8 Motorcraft SP-450 / ASF42C as I saw in a

previous post here plus a fuel filter. Not without annoyance since all I

get from saleswomen in car parts stores is "I do not know" or "I am not

a mechanic" until I manage to fight my way to the computer screen and

see the classifications they looked at with the eyes glazed over.



But I should not vent my anger on ignorant sales droids.
