[DeTomaso] Free Play Not Free

Dear All,

I know my free play needs adjustment (trouble with reverse) but I and 
another have tried and my mechanism has been altered and difficult to 
adjust.  I have an early 71 and ZF rebuilt in 2005.

I can't figure out where on mine to measure the free play (see pic) and it 
is under pressure and hard to move at all.   When I took off part of the 
mechanism the slave wants to come out quickly under pressure-is that normal?

My local mechanic says since it is hydraulic it should not be adjusted which 
I know is wrong.

I put a picture of mine with this email as it looks nothing like the manual 
or tech info page pictures.
