[DeTomaso] Electrical questions--HELP!

It may be helpful to think of the electrical system as divided in  two parts: 
the battery and electrical load.
 
The ammeter is the component which connects the two parts together.  The 
purpose of the ammeter is to show the amount of current flowing into or  out of 
the battery.
 
On the load side, the alternator supplies the current required by  all the 
electrical equipment.
 
Via the ammeter, the alternator also charges the battery. At this  time the 
ammeter reads in the plus region.
 
Also, via the ammeter, the battery can provide current to the  load when the 
alternator output cannot sustain the proper voltage. At this time  the ammeter 
reads in the minus region.
 
There is a third part of the electrical system: the starter  circuit. The 
starter is connect directly from the battery to the starter. This  is done 
because the current required to start the engine in about  150Amps.
