  Yea, I remember you passing me while I was at half throttle...I knew it would make you and Bell feel good going around me espially when I watched you all most collide with a another car on the same road! Another good reason to save the racing for the track or a sanctioned ORR. ;-]>
   
  Whatever cooling problems JT 'THINKS' I had must of been solved by the time I got to the Silver State in September where both my water and oil temps NEVER exceeded 210F! Check out my race report on my web site.

Technically, the Dawg is correct that I have not run in a speed class that 
has averaged 125MPH. However, I did pass him on a two laner in excess of 
140MPH. The Dawg is also correct that an oil heat exchanger isn't necessary 
at those speeds. Actually, my oil while driving on the street is generally 
too cool and I took measures to make my cooling system run warmer to 
accommodate it. Thus, most of us don't need a heat exchanger.

My experience with the oil heat exchanger was extraordinary on the race 
track; where it kept previously 300+ degree temps below 240.

I've heard the Dawg previously say that the brand of exchanger he previously 
used was unable to contain his oil temps at sustained high RPM levels in an 
ORR. Unfortunately, he doesn't clarify that his previous cooling system 
(radiator et al) was unable to dissipate enough heat energy from the coolant 
and the car ran hot. The exchanger is very inefficient transferring heat 
energy to the coolant when the coolant is close to boiling temps. Obviously 
the greater the delta between the coolant temps and the oil, the more 
efficiently the exchanger will work. MD, with his new cooling system that 
can maintain lower coolant temps, may now find that a heat exchanger will 
yield a superior experience for him this time around. Many elements are 
interrelated which often why different conclusions on the effectiveness of a 
part may be experienced by different individuals.
