The so-called "shortfall" is created in part by the $10 increased rebate to the chapters that was NOT requested in the first place. The return of this sum places the club at nearly breakeven. Simply, use the money to pay for our publication costs. PROPOSED: $75 dues less $15 to chapters yields $60 to fund the $62.52 publication estimate – per MS. Our $100,000 reserve would easily fund the $2.52 per year. Carrying 853 members at $2.52 is $2,149.56 per year. Divide that into 100,000 means funding covers 46.5 YEARS. OPINION: I do recognize that Mr. Shortt controls the Board by a 5 to 4 vote but there I think that this is a better solution than what MS has proposed. Finally, kudos goes to him for at least publishing the actions he intends to take so we may make positive suggestions for improvement. (Information taken from the President’s Blog.) If POCA wants to know, they should ask when people don¹t renew. I think the rebate is a good thing. Most of the POCA events are going to be local anyway - club meetings, tech sessions, drives, track days, cookouts, etc. This helps build the local clubs, plus it gives people more reason to join. I think making the newsletter color is a waste, though. There¹s nothing wrong with the newsletter the way it is. Will, thank you for your comments. I think a lot of us think the same way; just unfortunate that someone else thinks otherwise. I haven't figured out how going to color in the Newsletter is going to save money; that normally costs more. Considering going with a cheaper printer is asking for trouble as it will produce a cheaper product; currently we have a very good printer who works with us greatly. Well I know when I look at the great picture of the car on the front and have to read the description to know it is say a deep red - I would have enjoyed seeing the actual color. Often the back page has some neat pictures I would also enjoy seeing in color. As to the cost rebidding something every so often makes complete sense. Any well run organization should do it. In a competitive world it often easy to get a better price with good quality if you ask. On Saturday, May 28, 2016, cuvee <cuvee@sbcglobal.net> wrote:
