High Torque Mini Starters - Need a Recommendation
You may recall some time ago I posted about a hard start issue when the car was warm. The two most common solutions offered were timing adjustment and bad solenoid on the starter. I've adjusted the timing and she's running like raped ape, but still has the hard start. So, I need to replace my mini starter (solenoid is integral). I see a number of them on Ebay for prices that only say "too good to be true". What does the collective have as a recommendation? Thanks in advance. I bought one from DB Electrical a couple years ago and never put it in. I sold it to Dave Andresen in our AZ Club and he has been running it for 2 years. They the owner (Jack Isom) is obsessive about quality. Jack has a special relationship with Denso, and they have come to him when they can't figure out how to make something work. Jack is also one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He has sold starters to one of the vendors in the past, and knows exactly what you need. Pantera Parts Connection has been stocking and selling the IMI Hi Tourque Starters for years now. The Hot starting problem is only with D-0AZ 1970 and D1AZ 1971 blocks. It has something to do with the way the early blocks were cast. I have changed early long blocks in and out re-using everything from the earlier installation overnight to make the morning Race Grid only to have or not to have a Hot start problem with the changing of the Long block.
