71 Pantera well worn 377 twin turbo motor. After a short trip yesterday I noticed one of my turbos was leaking oil. A small amount on the input (pressure) side. A quick tightening and it was fine. I did notice a small paint bubble on the deck directly above the turbo. There is about 2 inches clearance about the turbos but the deck was really hot to the touch. Question. I am looking for a product that can be applied (as a sheet or thin blanket) to the underside of the deck above the turbo. I have some chromed sheet metal shields that I may be able to fit to the turbos but would like the real protection of an insulator. Thanks in advance to the "collective", jerry knotts

Jerry, I've found the best way to keep turbo heat away from a painted surface that is so close as your 2" would be to use a preformed turbo hugging insulation cover that is ceramic cloth inner lined with a hard ceramic plate shield that is elevated above the turbos and close to parallel to your painted surface. Your hard plate will be the last real defense against the heat and will allow air to pass between the plate and your painted panels-very important! You can then apply aluminum faced extruded ceramic cloth or another ceramic plate to your inner body surface for its reflective values with epoxied to body screw supports or tinnerman clip studs that keep said plate off the bodies surface for another air flow or insulation boundary. Next would be ceramic coating all exhaust and turbos and using air ducts to flush area. Basically holding heat back while flushing the heated area with air will save your painted body.
