Re: DeTomaso Digest, Vol 249, Issue 38

Had this been an actual issue, you would NOT have had time to react. Since then, I have not seen a single DeTomaso list email. I've attempted to unsubscribe and resubscribe. This is another test to see if the list is working (for me). Im going to try and get a needle nose vise grip up in that area or have a friend stick a flat head screw driver on the side of the bolt to jam it up and stop rotating, or try a 1/4 in socket. I will see if i can put a "tab " washer in for next time I do this job in the future. As suggested , it will hold the bolt head in place. (Im 69-if there is a next time, ill be glad im still around to do it!) Thanks again for all the help! I wont be doing this job until I fix what may be ignition or exhaust leak for backfiring on de-acceleration and look into an issue with the fast idle cam and choke flap closing and not opening after kick down sequence. Choke flap stays closed after kickdown and wont move again. I think its something with the cam and choke linkage after I pushed the Fast idle cam down in error with my finger. it now seems to be in the wrong position to work correctly. Fabricate one for the two bolts of the clutch master and install under the bolt heads to stop them turning or alternatively fabricate a plate and tack weld the bolt heads to it, no more helper required...... I think folks may be getting confused between 'synthetic' and 'silicone' brake fluids, nothing wrong with synthetic and they are typically higher performing than non-synthetic, you however want to stay away from silicone (DoT 5), which is incompatible with earlier fluids and may older brake seals. Cliff, Your helper under the dash holds the bolt (I think using 1/4 inch drive ratchet and extension and socket) while you turn the nut from outside. Doing it solo would be a damn hard job. How do you stop top mounting bolt from spinning under dash? I can get a 13mm closed end wrench on the bottom mounting bolt under dash, cant access top bolt. Any tips appreciated! BTW-tough to find locally DOT 3 "Non synthetic" Brake fluid. Everything is synthetic. Had to order STP brand online! Thanks again!
