Yes, what I meant was that LED efficiency is not likely to drop by a factor of several times. Price drop for high power LEDs is another thing. :-) Tomas <-----Ursprungligt Meddelande-----> From: Guido deTomaso [guido_detomaso@prodigy.net] Sent: 6/10/2016 6:07:50 PM To: guson@home.se Cc: detomaso@server.detomasolist.com Subject: [DeTomaso] 2nd thoughts, was Re: Headlights - Stock replacement options? Wondering if I originally misunderstood this comment. Perhaps the meaning is LED vs. LED, power trends with light output regardless of quality. IOW a 115w LED puts out ~3x the light of a 40w LED. Still figure I'll wait till prices drop even more, maybe power draws drop to ~25w. For a different application I've been looking at LED headlamps on eBay etc. Want to run six at once without killing the generator.
From what I've seen there are many drop in replacements for the standard 7" round sealed beam lights that used to be ubiquitous. For some reason Jeeps are always the target market, Vortex also only mentions the Jeep application by name: http://www.visionxusa.com/shop/7-vortex-led-headlight/
At the ~$50 price point, many different sellers on eBay appear to be selling the same offshore units, some have many LED's within the seven inch circle, others have 3-4 larger LED's. Halos/angel eyes, DRL's & amber built in turn signals are common variations. But often the power consumption on these is greater than the old sealed beams ... there appear to be heat sinks on the back and I wonder what the air circulation would be once installed in the typical bucket. This power consumption does not support my genius plan obviously. OTOH these visionx units at $419 ea. do appear to waste less power, consuming only 40 watts per the website. Expect I'll wait for the price, and power consumption, to fall. I've installed Sylvania SilverStars all my vehicles, but I'm lucky if the bulbs last more than a year (I don't think they take too kindly to a lot of vibration). The Vortex LEDs sound like the optimum replacement. Mahalo, Scott Sent from my iPhone

Brent,
Bill Moore replaced his with some LED drop in units and I have to say they gave out an exceptional amount of light.
I cannot recall the brand and he's on the PNW cruise this week and I'm not sure if he is monitoring the list, so I copied him direct.

.Howdy all,.Just getting ready for the Ironstone Concours coming up in a few weeks, and I'd like to update the old headlights so I can drive at night. I have the stock round ones, and would like to get something that is a little more modern and brighter..I put these Halogens in my 240Z and they seem to work great:.http://www.blackdragonauto.com/Features/Z/ZEL1.htm .Any reason they wouldn't fit the P-car? What else have y'all used?.Thanks for your advice!!!.brent.. _______________________________________________
