I really have to add to the Forest and Goergene stories. For several years it seemed that Carol and I, Ken and Nancy Ridley, and Jim Wallace had our own rooms in the Majors house. We would meet there for a weekend of fun and food and a car show in their back yard. Ironically I first met Forest on a bus on the 17 Mile Drive at Pebble Beach. Wonderful people, as are most Pantera folks. Bob Reid In a message dated 6/9/2016 2:26:41 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, detomaso@server.detomasolist.com writes: Guys... While driving the car from Collector's Choice in Wisconsin to NY and the ship, it developed an engine problem. I was stranded on the NYS Thruway and ended up having the car towed to my parents' house in Syracuse, NY. Forest and Georgene introduced to Panteras by taking me to an Italian car event at the Pocono race track. Needless to say Forest had found me a Pantera in less than two months. The rest is history. Thru the Pantera community, I have met many great and giving people. At one time we had 5 Panteras in a town of 7,000 people. Now we are down to 3 Panteras in town. Guys... Ok here is only one of my Forest stories and I have plenty....I bought an RX-7 and it needed a transmission, took the car to Forest's house to use the lift to take the car apart (see picture attached with car, Forest and Georgene) we pulled the tranny and he shipped down to Ole Saybrook to have it rebuilt. They he went and picked it back up again for me as the car sat on his lift for two weeks. We must have pulled that tranny about three more time over the next year and a half. Can't tell you how many time I stayed at the house over the weekend to work on my car. Charlie, I remember all those events, or at least your emails to the list about them back then. I also remember Forest Majors; absolutely one of the finest people you could ever hope to meet! My Forest story is somewhat similar. Back about that same time frame I signed up for a vintage car rally in New England with an old Ferrari I had at the time. Forest (who I had never met in person either) sent me an email offer any help I might need with the logistics of dropping my car off or getting it picked back up etc. Long story short not only did I have the car shipped to Forests house where he kindly stored it in the barn he was also gracious enough to pick me up from the airport, put me up in his guest room and he even had a back yard New England lobster boil with some of the local car guys to welcome the Texan to town. I ended up doing that rally for 3 or 4 years in a row and staying with Forest and Georgene became a tradition each year I ran it. Bob Reid
