Removal of Michael Shortt as President of POCA
All, Just an update, As of July, 28th, 2016 7pm PST Michael Shortt in no longer in the position of President of POCA. The Board of Directors had a meeting to decide what steps needed to be taken to address the issues based on the behavior and actions of Mr. Shortt, and the treatment of members and board members. As per the bylaws; we gave a a 5 day notice to all BOD members prior to this meeting, we gave out an agenda, and the meeting was set as a regular BOD meeting. Michael Shortt did not attend nor did Mike Burnett. John Buckman resigned from the board earlier in the day due to medical illness. Present at the meeting were: Bob Reid - Treasurer Joe Stockett - Secretary Judy McCartney - Membership Ed Mendez - PR This constituted a quorum as per the bylaws as we had a majority 4 out of 6 remaining members. We voted unanimously for the removal of Michael Shortt as President. We drafted a letter and sent the notice below via certified mail. Another meeting is set to decide the next steps. If you receive any email from Mr. Shortt, he is sending it as a regular member and not as the President of POCA. We appreciate your patience in this matter. Ed, just a note to let you know and the rest of the group that I have now much clarity about the events that transpired and reasons for POCA members wanting Michael Shortt out. Having that clarity now I know that although Michael insulted many people, he also received resistance and insults, as well. Two bads do not make one good, though. Although I did not hear from Joe, knowing him for many years, I never heard anything negative about him until now. So I am accepting what you said about "copy and paste" and moving on. Time will hopefully heal all of us and hope POCA will be resurrected. Thank you Ed and looking forward to the next publication. Ed, I see that Joe Stockett, is on the board? Is this the same guy with all the nasty language and "f" name calling? If so, why is he allowed on the board if MS was dismissed for his bad language and treatment as you stated below? Just asking. I welcome Joe to reply as well.
