Larry, I've tried the new forum also and don't see anything wrong with the tool. I'm sure with some care and feeding it could be great like the PI forum, once populated with great content and activity.
Personally, I prefer the bulletin board type forum like PI or now the POCO forum over the email list. Easier to organize and find information. This email stream is like sitting at a big table with a lot of your friends having several conversations at once about different stuff. You'll miss something sometimes, and have no idea how to search the years of history to find stuff.
Having said that I gotta remember as SOBill says "the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing". For me, the main thing is new and old friends with a common interest in great cars. So wherever I find those great people, I will go and adapt to whatever tool they prefer.

All,
I have been active on the new POCA forum. (Please don’t hate. I like new and shiny things)
It is much like the PI forum, but not nearly as intuitive or easy to use. Smart phone use is quite trying.
What I noticed today though was the volume of that new site versus the volume of this resurrected email list.
I think I’m being conservative to say the posts here outnumber the POCA forum by at least 10 to 1.
Not sure what that means, but it must mean something……….
Just saying. ;-)

Dennis, I think you have a great view on how it's really supposed to work. If a person enjoys the on-line format, it's -there- for them to use. If they like this format, it's there for them to use. If they like both, it's there for them to use. I think about how I got to the PI forum and see postings from Jack DeRyke, who also posts on this email list. I'm a members of many on-line forums and I go there when I need to, but I'm more dedicated to this list and as Chuck Engles pointed out in another email, this is like walking into a pub and sitting down among friends with a pint of beer and just shooting the breeze. An on-line forum can be that way too, especially if you get email delivery of all the postings; though you still have to go on-line to reply. The new POCA forum has pretty much the same features as the old on-line forum that was on the old web-site, but it hardly got used. I tried to stimulate some use early on, but nothing much happened. The new web site is more exciting and has the added benefit of tracking actual memberships as well. That part doesn't work as well for folks who are a little Internet shy or who don't have email, but it's what I think is a step in the right direction; I'm just not sure I agree with how it's all being kind of forced on people. But I agree that both formats are viable and useful. I spend my car time at 4 locations. 1. This list, which I love. This is the best group of car guys that I know. 2. The Space City e-mail list, which I also love. Same quality of people, but a smaller group. 3. http://www.fordfe.com. I¹ve always had a weakness for the Ford FE. 4. http://www.clubcobra.com. I don¹t know that I care that much about e-mail list vs. forum. Both work, and they both have pros and cons. I care a lot more that the content is uncensored, unbiased, and that the participants treat one another with respect. www.fordfe.com is a very early style of web forum. It is simple and plain, but it works very well. You can browse and search for free. You have to register to post, but it¹s still free. I don¹t know how they get their funding. I don¹t remember seeing ads, so maybe some of the members pay the hosting fees to network54. www.clubcobra.com is a newer style web forum. It has all of the bells and whistles. It¹s tough to put a website together like this, and I have to say this one works. I don¹t think there is a members only area. I don¹t recall seeing anything about member vs. non-member. For what it¹s worth, I joined the Cobra club just because I thought it was the right thing to do, even though my membership dues may or may not support the club cobra website. I have also browsed www.viperalley.com and www.viperclub.org, which are both very well done. I haven¹t been on those websites since I sold my Viper, though. The new POCA website looks great, but where¹s the forum link on the main page? Wait - it¹s probably only available if you are a member. There¹s a link for Rebuilding the ZF, but it¹s in the Members Only section too. That¹s my biggest beef with the POCA website. It¹s pushing too hard to, ³Hey!! We have great content, but you can¹t see it until you pony up.² <end-of-rant-for-now> On 5/21/16, 10:14 AM, "DeTomaso on behalf of Asa Jay Laughton" <detomaso-bounces@server.detomasolist.com on behalf of asajay@asajay.com> wrote:
