Stock Exhaust cracked-Repair or Replace?

Folks,Had a smoke test done to troubleshoot backfiring when de-accelerating. Sure enough, smoke tests revealed cracks on both original, yet jet coated, exhaust manifold pipes. Question:Best to repair 53 year old originals or replace with todays exhaust products? (I would hate to repair and have cracks occur in other areas of the pipes in the near future). If the recommendation is to replace, what are the forums suggestion to replace a stock 351 Clevelands Exhaust manifolds with and should I replace rears mufflers as well? Thank you in advance! Cliff, Been here before. Repairing the headers is a waste of time / $$$... The cracks just keep coming. First: I bought the Euro Ansa solution from Hall. Nice performance, but bad drone at 1700rpms. Very unpleasant around town. Second: I bought the 180 solution from Ron McCall. The sound is incredible and there is no drone. Downside: 1. No trunk anymore 2. Changing plugs is a bear 3. Move the swirl and overflow tanks Upside: 1. Coolest exhaust system ever!!!!! /\/\ #6859 WAYBAC -----Original Message----- From: Panteratime via DeTomaso <detomaso@server.detomasolist.com> Sent: Sunday, March 23, 2025 10:57 AM To: detomaso@server.detomasolist.com Subject: [DeTomaso] Stock Exhaust cracked-Repair or Replace? Same experience I had. Factory Headers are junk and will crack just looking at them. I have the EURO ANSA system also, but with the internal baffles removed. I also run port plates to improve the low end torque. The plates actually work great one just needs double gaskets. Great sound but the Drone at 1700/2200 is a killer for any length of time. But, one can work around it with gear changes. One can forget using your phone or listening to the radio in this RPM range.
