We've logged about 5K miles since going through the engine and installing MSD's Atomic Fuel Injection in our Pantera. The install instructions for the FI suggest it is best to first run the car with just the fuel injection set up, then, when all the bugs have been worked out of the FI, switch the timing to the MSD FI computer. We took our car out for its first run last night after finally getting around to switching to digital control of the timing. WOW. If I had known the impact of digital timing I would have switched a long time ago. Talk about smooth - idle, decel, accel, everything just feels so much smoother. Our initial settings for the Timing are 18 degrees at 1,000 BTDC and 36 at 2,500 BTDC. Before switching over I checked that the timing marks on our vibration dampener were correct using a piston stop. Hmmm - TDC was off by 5.5 degrees. The engine build sheet indicates it is an SFI damper Makes it sort of important to confirm the dampener has not rotated. Engine bay cooling fan is also installed, along with a SPAL PWM controller. Finally, rear window goes in next. Stephen Nelson 5332
I hope you have a write up of your installation. I would be interested in part#s used etc Joe/NC -----Original Message----- From: DeTomaso [mailto:detomaso-bounces@server.detomasolist.com] On Behalf Of Stephen Sent: Tuesday, August 30, 2016 10:52 AM To: detomaso@server.detomasolist.com Subject: [DeTomaso] MSD FI Update We've logged about 5K miles since going through the engine and installing MSD's Atomic Fuel Injection in our Pantera.
