Bruce contacted me, as he has found some Pantera ID plates that he would like to get back to the right car. He has the timing plate, the Body Service Number plate (50169), and the Block Number plate, also known as the Mechanical Parts Number (03122). I have searched the registry for the BSN and the block number, but find no direct match. Has this car been scrapped? Is she still running around, naked of her ID plates ? Who knows? This would be a late July '72 thru Sept '72 USA-market Pantera (probably an L model), based upon the sequential BSN (started with 50001 in July). Bruce got them from a guy, who got them from a widow, etc. so little more other info from the source other that what we see. The ID plates are being stored under Unknown1236 in the registry, until reunited with the correct car. Thanks go to Bruce for his efforts! And for you 'math' types, or anyone that likes a Pantera puzzle. Here is a challenge to those DeTomaso fans good at simple math and interpolation: Given the VIN, BSN and motor numbers (listed in the registry), what is the VIN of the Pantera with the highest probability of a match? (or even just the approximate range.) Chuck, No need for math! 03122 is the engine number. It is stamped on the block and this car is early enough that it likely still has the aluminum plate around the VIN which will have this number stamped on it. Look at the vin-area photos of cars in the 4000-4200 range and you might find it? Mike Sent from my iPad

The MN are scattered wrt to VINs. Here is a plot of MN/VIN on either side of 3122. I removed several that were way out of line. This included all GTS's with MN near 3122, so If it was a GTS, would need to sort and plot again. I might attempt similar sort/plot of the BSNs. However things are more hectic than normal lately.
